when i plug in my wharfedale diamond 9 series sub woofer its like its not compatible the amp reads it as not plugged in properly and puts a very small amount of bass through it Ive tried everything different cables from the sub to the amp and yet it still doesn't work both the cable and the sub have been tested and work and a working model is at the shop i bought it from please help??

I have a Onkyo stereo receiver TX-8011 and Paradigm Atoms. Setup is okay but I'm not happy with the sound sometimes.It is great with certain tracks but lacks clarity in others. I understand that Atoms are used as rear speakers in their home theater kits. Thats the mistake i did. It has very good bass and brings out more in vocals.The music isn't very detailed. I have a pair of wharfedale diamond 8.3 and a WH center of the same brand. They are powered by a marantz sr301.Both are well established brands.However after listening to them for 3 months, I felt the sound is rather harsh on high frequencies.
